Year 5 Team

Miss S Spicer

I am head of Year 5 which also means I have a Year 5 class. I really enjoy teaching all subjects which is why I like the fact that Year 5 at Dedworth Middle School is the same as it would be in a primary school and I get to teach my class all their lessons. My favourite subject is maths and it was my favourite when I was at school, I like the fact there is always a right or wrong answer! I really enjoy being head of Year 5, getting to know all the children in the year group and being there to support them through their first year at DMS. I can usually be found in my classroom and children I have taught in previous years know this very well as they pop back and see me at break times and lunch times for a catch up. I also love art and being creative. In the past, I have helped out with school productions as dancing and singing as two of my biggest passions. Most importantly, I love all things Disney!

N Novelli

Miss N Novelli

I started working at Dedworth Middle School in June 2016 and I’m currently Head of Humanities across KS2&3 and joint tutor with Miss Spicer in Year 5. I can speak three languages; I have two small children and absolutely love to read! My favourite period of history is the Tudors.  I love teaching the stories of Henry VIII and his wives, his children and the people who surrounded them. It's like a modern-day soap opera, these stories have it all: scandal, betrayal and murder! I look forward to sharing this and many more stories with you.

D Moult

Mr D Moult

Hi I'm Mr Moult.

I am Head of Teaching and Learning and also a Year 5 teacher. I'm usually found in my classroom (Room 5) in the main school building, as well as in my office just down the corridor.

I'm currently a teacher of Reading, Writing, Maths and Music! I can't pick a favourite - I love them all!

Outside of the classroom I have run and supported with some exciting musical activities (including a distanced choir during lockdown) and some English-related after school clubs.

In my spare time I like to exercise in the gym, read as many books as I can, and I also run a choir for adults on Sunday afternoons.
I'm really looking forward to meeting you!

A Lim

Miss A Lim

Hello, I'm Miss Lim and this is my third year at Dedworth Middle teaching Year 5. I’m from Singapore, which is a 13-hour flight away, and have been living in the UK for the past 6 years. I love teaching a range of subjects and am always inspired by the interesting ideas and opinions that children bring to the classroom!

When I’m not in school teaching, you can find me doing long nature walks, dabbling in something creative or making a mess in the kitchen. I also love playing board games or card games. If you see me around school, feel free to say hello and talk to me, especially if you love cats - I'm a crazy cat lady and have a brown tabby back home called Tiggs, whom I miss so much! I’m excited to get to know more people in our school community, to teach and to learn along the way.

H Butler

Mr H Butler

I’m a newly qualified Year 5 teacher having just completed my QTS year. I have taught at many primary schools in the local area in a P.E. capacity. I have also a big interest in teaching multiple subjects mainly in maths and history. I am approachable and am happy to listen to any queries or needs you may have.
In my spare time I enjoy going to the gym, playing football and competing in athletics. I am also an academy coach with Arsenal football club.

C Brown

Miss C Brown

Hello, I am Miss Brown (owner of two beautiful Leonberger's called Bingo and Willow) and I am one of the year 5 teachers. I love art and gardening and really enjoy having discussions with students about the books they read. Of course, the most important information that students want to know about me is that I am a Hufflepuff, but when you meet me, feel free to ask me what my Patronus is (I do not mind if you laugh at my answer).

You can normally find me in my classroom which is room 6 or you may see me on duty at break time. What I enjoy most about teaching is helping children have their 'lightbulb moments'. It is awe inspiring to see students ACHIEVE with a topic they once struggled with and show fantastic resilience to fly over each hurdle in their learning. Especially when they 'trip' and get themselves back on course.

I look forward to meeting you!

Maxwell Smith

R Byrne

Mr R Byrne

I’m currently starting my second year here as a Teaching Assistant, this time working with Year 5, whereas last year I was based in Year 6. I will be working with children to build their learning (specifically) in Reading Intervention, but also in day-to-day subjects.

I’m a current certificated L3 First Aider, with past experience working for Public Services teams and with children of all ages through Kickboxing and Ski Coaching.

When I’m not working you can find me on my bike, out running, in my kitchen baking or spending good quality time with friends and family.

I’m passionate about sports and fitness in general and aspire to work with children in this area.
