Year 5 Team

Spicer

Miss S Spicer

I am head of Year 5 which also means I have a Year 5 class. I really enjoy teaching all subjects which is why I like the fact that Year 5 at Dedworth Middle School is the same as it would be in a primary school and I get to teach my class all their lessons. My favourite subject is maths and it was my favourite when I was at school, I like the fact there is always a right or wrong answer! I really enjoy being head of Year 5, getting to know all the children in the year group and being there to support them through their first year at DMS. I can usually be found in my classroom and children I have taught in previous years know this very well as they pop back and see me at break times and lunch times for a catch up. I also love art and being creative. In the past, I have helped out with school productions as dancing and singing as two of my biggest passions. Most importantly, I love all things Disney!

N Novelli

Miss N Novelli

I started working at Dedworth Middle School in June 2016 after I moved back to the UK having spent the previous four years living and working in Brazil as a History teacher for an American High School. I can speak three languages, I have two small children and I love to read. My favourite period of history is the Tudors.  I love teaching the stories of Henry VIII and his wives, his children and the people who surrounded them. It's like a modern day soap opera, these stories have it all: scandal, betrayal and murder! I’m a joint tutor with Miss Spicer in Year 5. I look forward to sharing this and many more stories with you.

D Moult

Mr D Moult

I'm a Year 5 teacher and also the Head of English for Key Stage 2. I'm usually found in my classroom (Room 5) in the main school building. As a Year 5 teacher I teach most subjects, but of course Reading is my favourite!
Outside of the classroom I have run and supported with some exciting musical activities (including a distanced choir during lockdown) and some English-related after school clubs.
In my spare time I like to exercise in the gym, read as many books as I can, and I also run a choir for adults on Sunday afternoons.
I'm really looking forward to meeting you!

A Lim

Miss A Lim

Hello, my name is Miss Lim and this is my second year at Dedworth Middle teaching Year 5. I’m from Singapore, which is a 13-hour flight away, and have been living in the UK for the past 5 years. My favourite subjects are English, Maths and PSHE. When I’m not in school teaching, you can find me doing long nature walks, dabbling in something creative or making a mess in the kitchen. I also love playing board games or card games. If you see me around school, feel free to say hello and talk to me, especially if you love cats - I'm a crazy cat lady and have a brown tabby back home called Tiggs, whom I miss so much! I’m excited to get to know more people in our school community, to teach and to learn along the way.

H Butler

Mr H Butler

I’m a newly qualified Year 5 teacher having just completed my QTS year. I have taught at many primary schools in the local area in a P.E. capacity. I have also a big interest in teaching multiple subjects mainly in maths and history. I am approachable and am happy to listen to any queries or needs you may have.
In my spare time I enjoy going to the gym, playing football and competing in athletics. I am also an academy coach with Arsenal football club.

C Brown

Miss C Brown

Hello there, my name is Miss Brown and I am one of the year 5 class teachers. I am known to wear brightly coloured clothes and I absolutely love art! I enjoy expanding my knowledge through reading, learning new skills, and gardening. Recently, I took my gardening to the next step and started growing more vegetables in a greenhouse as well as learning about the science behind growing my vegetables. However, I do have a few unhelpful assistants at home who enjoy pulling up the carrots and running around the garden with them. Their names are Bingo and Willow, my lovely pet dogs who are both Leonberger’s (A.K.A Gentle Giant’s). While I have enjoyed taking the time over lockdown to deepen my knowledge of many area’s including; horticulture, reupholstering, crocheting, painting, macramé and bread making. I am delighted to get back to what I enjoy the most, and that is helping children have their ‘lightbulb moments’ in the classroom. I look forward to meeting you all!

R Byrne

Mr R Byrne

I’m currently starting my second year here as a Teaching Assistant, this time working with Year 5, whereas last year I was based in Year 6. I will be working with children to build their learning (specifically) in Reading Intervention, but also in day-to-day subjects.

I’m a current certificated L3 First Aider, with past experience working for Public Services teams and with children of all ages through Kickboxing and Ski Coaching.

When I’m not working you can find me on my bike, out running, in my kitchen baking or spending good quality time with friends and family.

I’m passionate about sports and fitness in general and aspire to work with children in this area.

A Smith

Ms A Smith

I'm a teaching assistant with Year 5. When I'm not in the classroom I enjoy doing a range of things. I have practised karate for a number of years and I am currently preparing for my next grading. As an avid runner I have completed several marathons. I also enjoy learning about art history and studying interior design as well as drafting my own designs and artwork. I look forward to us all working together during the new term.

N Shaffa

Miss Shaffa

I've been working at Dedworth Middle school for about   now as a Year 5 Teaching Assistant so you'll find me in one of the Year 5 classrooms.

When I’m not in school I spend the majority of my time with my daughter; we enjoy trying out new baking recipes. The most recent one was Churros with a chocolate dip-so yummy! We also love making slime and bracelets using loom bands/beads, doing tattoos on each other and much more.

Our favourite places to visit together are Legoland, Odds Farm and JumpIn. My daughter is currently trying to teach me how to do the splits and a headstand which is a very painful experience as I'm not as flexible as a 9 year old but I shall not give up!!

I like to focus on my fitness whether that is going to the gym or for a run to burn off all the extra calories! I'm really looking forward to meeting you all in September and being a part of your learning journey at Dedworth Middle School.
