Governing Body

At Dedworth Middle School, our job as governors is to ensure the school delivers high standards of education for all children in the school. Governors work with the Headteacher and the Windsor Learning Partnership on shaping and delivering the strategic priorities of the school which include:

  • Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils
  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent

How do we work?

We meet as a full governing board at least once every short term and may attend other meetings as members of working groups or as individuals, linking with staff members.

We talk to staff, pupils and parents, we carry out monitoring visits, audits and surveys, all of which allow us to monitor how well the school is delivering its strategic priorities and what impact it has on the children’s education and personal development.

What’s important is our determination to work together to drive improvement and change for the benefit of all the children at Dedworth Middle School.

Louise Toulorge

Parent Governor and Chair (Elected September 2019)

I have been a governor at DMS since 2016 and Chair since September 2019. It is rewarding to work with the DMS school leaders and Windsor Learning Partnership to improve the quality of education and I enjoy the challenges of the role.

My younger daughter left DMS in 2019 and is now at Windsor Girls’ School, my eldest daughter left WGS in 2020 and is now at the University Of Liverpool.

I worked in Human Resources and recruitment in the financial services and compliance sector for a number of years. I returned to work a few years ago, after a career break, and I now teach French to primary school age children. I am also French Language Assistant at a 6th form in the Borough.

Mrs N Chandler

Headteacher and Staff Governor

Hello! I am Mrs Nicola Chandler, the new Executive Headteacher of the Dedworth campus and substantive Headteacher of Dedworth Middle School. I am really excited to start this new challenge and to work closely with you all to make all children flourish in their Dedworth experience. I feel very honoured to be managing the Dedworth Campus, having been a pupil in both schools myself in the 1980’s, and I am therefore determined to secure an outstanding future for the schools and have every intention of ensuring we offer a top class education for all the pupils we serve.

I absolutely love my job and am passionate about education but outside of school I love spending time with my family. I have 2 children (14,11) which keep us busy and our favourite place in the world is Disney! I love to keep myself fit and pound the pavements very early in the morning and I also enjoy doing fitness classes, shopping and never say no to a Starbucks coffee! I really am delighted to be here and look forward to working closely with you all in the many years to come.

Barry Darvill

Community Governor

I am a retired IT professional and have lived in Windsor for 40 years. My three now-grown-up children all attended first, middle and upper schools in the town. I have been a governor at The Windsor Boys’ School since 2006, at Trevelyan from 2008 to 2010, and in 2018 was invited to join the governors at Dedworth Middle School.

Kerry-Ann Blandin

Parent Governor

I have worked in the education sector for over 20 years with a specialism in curriculum.

I have a daughter who attends DMS and another one who will be attending in 2 years so I have a vested interest in ensuring the school works well for my family and a genuine interest in ensuring the same for other parents too.

My aim is to use my experience to support the Head Teacher and all other stakeholders in developing new initiatives within our school to maintain and improve standards including progress and achievement ensuring our children have the best possible education.

Heather Stratton

Staff Governor

Hello / Bonjour!

I’m Mrs Stratton and I am Head of French and Head of Year 7.  I have taught languages for over 20 years and I am really looking forward to teaching you all again this year at DMS!

When I’m not in school, I enjoy watching world cinema, catching up with most comedy shows, as well as discovering new walks along the Thames with my 2 children.
