Year 8 Team

Mrs K Patel

I am the subject lead for KS3 Maths; I oversee homework across DMS and I am also a Year 8 tutor.  I teach maths in KS3 and a KS2 class. Prior to teaching maths, I worked in the investment banking industry.   When I am not in school I love to cook especially if I have discovered a new ingredient or dish; I help out at the allotment and enjoy reading.  I look forward to meeting you as you continue your mathematical journey where everybody counts.

Mr J Taylor

Hello. My name is Mr Taylor and I am head of the Computing department. I have been at Dedworth Middle School since 2005. In that time there has been many changes in the world of Computing and I am constantly improving the activities and resources to keep up with the changing technologies. I am making sure that all pupils can experience many styles of coding from creating web pages to creating dynamic playable games. My hobbies, which include coding, also include building from garden furniture to cabinets and running events such as quiz nights and discos. These are all skills which are utilized when the school puts on major theatrical productions. I walk about 50km a week walking my dogs and playing Pokemon Go and when time allows, I practise playing guitar and singing much to the annoyance of my family.

Mr A Imbastari

I am a teacher of mathematics at DMS and teach students both at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 2. I joined DMS at the beginning of 2020 and have thoroughly enjoyed the time I have spent at the school thus far. A lot of the children know me as Mr I as my surname is quite long! Whilst at the school as well as teaching maths I have helped Mr Lewis in football by refereeing football matches or providing opportunities for the DMS football teams to play matches. Outside of school I volunteer with schools’ football at both district and county level. I help provide local schools’ football tournaments for both boys and girls school teams. I also manage the local school primary and secondary district team in which some DMS children have managed to be selected for due to their aptitude and attitude. When I am away from school and football, I love spending time with my family, home cooking, gardening and practising yoga. I look forward to seeing you at DMS and working together to be the very best we can be.

Mr S Curtis

I am Simon Curtis and I have just joined Dedworth Middle School as an English teacher for years seven and eight. I recently relocated from Amsterdam where I was teaching English Language and Literature in an English international school. Before that, I taught in a number of independent and state schools in Johannesburg, South Africa. I have a wife and son and hail from Somerset, where most of my family still live. I am a huge fan of reading and multimedia and I look forward to guiding Dedworth students in their love of learning, especially when it comes to the wonders and revelations that can be found in books. It is my task to help you find the answers to so many questions. An ability to read, write and speak well is massively empowering and is an investment that will enrich one's life immeasurably.

Mr S Pearce

Hello! I am Mr. Pearce and I am the Lead for KS3 English. I’ll be teaching Year 7 and 8 English lessons and working with the rest of the English team to make the Y7 and 8 English curriculum exciting, engaging and one that will make them the best readers and authors possible. I have high expectations of the pupils at Dedworth Middle and I will work my hardest to ensure each and every pupil in KS3 finds their English lessons fun and ones that they feel they can succeed in. I have been an English teacher for over ten years and love reading anything and everything from historical fiction to blogs and poetry. In my spare time, I love spending time with my wife and two girls as well as trying my hand at baking – I make a killer salted caramel cupcake!

Miss P Dhariwal

Hello pupils and parents of DMS! I am Miss Dhariwal and I recently joined the school in November 2020 as a KS3 English teacher. I have spent the last few years of my career working in a large secondary school in West London but I am thoroughly enjoying the change of working with Year 7 & 8 and joining the wonderful Dedworth community! Naturally, I love teaching English and watching my students grow in confidence with their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills! I find working with young people so enjoyable and hope that all pupils feel that they can approach for me anything  - I am always happy to help! In my free time, I enjoy cooking, baking, reading and all things Harry Potter and Disney!
