Who are we?

Who we are

We are The Friends of Dedworth Middle School PTA

The PTA (Parent, Teacher and Friends Association) is a community of parents, carers, staff and friends who work together to support Dedworth Middle School.

Everyone with a connection to the school is automatically part of the PTA — there’s no sign-up required. Whether you help regularly, attend events occasionally, or simply support fundraising initiatives, you are part of what makes the PTA successful.

What we do

The PTA:

  • Raises funds to enhance school resources, facilities and opportunities

  • Supports enrichment activities, events and experiences for pupils

  • Helps build a strong, welcoming school community

  • Works closely with school leaders to ensure funds are used where they make the greatest impact

All money raised by the PTA goes directly back into projects that benefit pupils and families across the school.

If you would like to be more actively involved, you can contact us through the GET INVOLVED page.

The PTA Committee

The PTA is supported by a small volunteer committee who help organise events, manage fundraising initiatives and ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.

The committee works in partnership with the school and meets regularly to plan activities, review funding priorities and oversee PTA finances.

Committee roles include:

  • Chair – leads meetings and helps coordinate PTA activities

  • Vice Chair – supports the Chair and helps drive initiatives forward

  • Secretary – manages communication, minutes and organisation

  • Treasurer – oversees finances, budgeting and reporting

Committee Vacancy: Secretary

We are currently looking for a PTA Secretary to join our committee.

The Secretary plays an important role in helping the PTA run smoothly by supporting communication, organisation and record-keeping.

What the role involves

  • Taking brief notes and minutes at PTA meetings

  • Helping share information with parents and carers

  • Supporting the organisation of meetings and initiatives

  • Assisting with general communication where needed

No previous experience is required — support and guidance will be provided, and the role is manageable alongside other commitments.

Why consider the role?

  • You’ll help ensure clear communication between the PTA, school and families

  • The time commitment is flexible and reasonable

  • You’ll be part of a friendly, supportive team working for the benefit of our pupils
